3D ORGAN IMAGING

Anatomy - Morphology

PULMONARY SEGMENTATION AND MULTIMODAL APPROACH

Aim: The pulmonary vasculature plays a pivotal role in the development and progress of chronic lung diseases. Due to limitations of conventional 2-dimensional histological methods, the complexity and the detailed anatomy of the lung blood circulation might be overlooked. Serial block face imaging (SBFI) can provide rapid, cost-effective, and label-free visualization of mouse lung macrostructures and large pulmonary vessels and brings complementary 3D information for preclinical research on diseases like arterial banding, pulmonary embolism or lung pathologies affecting large airways.

Approach: PFFE block, label free imaging of mouse lung, internal contrast of autofluorescence allows for pixel classification and segmentation of large airways and arterial structures

Result: Qualitative 3D visualization of airway and vascular anatomy of large structures

Images: 2D raw image of lung as fig below pointing structures identified in same color code as that used on the Imaris reconstruction

Kratoscopy as a service

In collaboration with the microscopy and histology platform MicroPICell from Nantes University / SFR François Bonamy, Kaer Labs can propose the technique as a service. It is as simple as shipping us your organs embedded in paraffin or frozen in OCT. Contact us for more information on prices and processes.
